4 Angels for a Hallelujah – Flurstedt Seeks Organ Patrons
A groundbreaking 21st-century organ in a historic casing
The desire for a new church organ began in 2018 with the initiative "4 Angels for a Hallelujah – Flurstedt Seeks Organ Patrons." Donations, television appearances as public relations efforts, and various projects have been used to garner support. The overwhelming response we received quickly made it evident that our endeavor was not only supported by our local community but also by friends from outside, music enthusiasts, and individuals who were inspired by our vision and enthusiasm.

We aim for an organ in a historic casing that can interpret both traditional liturgical music and modern compositions. This decision arose after realizing that the old Hänert/Herrwagen organ was far more damaged than initially assumed. The assessment of salvageable components was alarmingly low, and even with a theoretical reconstruction of the missing parts, there would be no guarantee of flawless performance.

Despite our efforts to restore the Hänert/Herrwagen organ and consultations with various specialists, we ultimately decided to pursue a pioneering 21st-century organ, financed through private means, donations, and sponsorships. The decision for a modern organ was also influenced by the recognition of the limitations of Flurstedt’s old organ. The new organ can be constructed in stages, ensuring that funds do not need to be fully available from the outset. This allows for the rapid creation of a playable church organ, with registers added gradually based on donations.
The community and supporters of the Cultural Church of Flurstedt are committed to continuing this path. Benefit events featuring renowned musicians, including Mihail Cunetchi (accordion), Thomas Friedlaender (Arabic trumpet, percussion), and Maria Jonas (vocals), have been organized alongside live painting events, exhibitions, programs for promoting music in the Weimar region, and performances by local brass bands.
However, we cannot achieve this alone – we are calling for donations to preserve this cultural treasure. Only through culture and commitment within a fitting framework can we sustain our church.
We look forward to your support, and stay well.
Yours, Flurstedt
